“The health of our body is essential to our welfare, spirit and self-image. This is the only body we have. Taking care of it is not a luxury; it's a necessity. The skin is the largest organ of the body, and yet, the least attended. Let's see what we can do to fix that.” -Chelsea DiPilla
Chelsea DiPilla had her first run-in with skin as a teenager. Like most of us, she survived. That feeling of frustration and helplessness, however, left a deep and lasting impression. Drawn to the footlights early on, her work as a performance artist placed her on stage and before cameras. Her appearance was no longer a personal matter. It had become a business necessity.
Chelsea is a perpetual student with a strong belief in the power of knowledge, the need to research and a desire to understand. Her body was her instrument and she depended upon this miraculous machine. Her instincts and determination meant classes, seminars, workshops, and academic programs. Thus began several years of curriculum studies in New York.
She pursued the science and practice of aesthetics with a passion. Awarded her license, this became her work. Exploring skeletal and muscular anatomy, function and adjustment, she became a licensed massage therapist, graduating with honors.
From casino spas, where products are a luxury, to dermatology offices, where products are a corrective, Chelsea’s impressively diversified work experience was a practicum in the quality, purpose and ingredients of skin care products. Manufacturing her own goods would be the only way to insure their integrity.
She has studied with, and been influenced by, industry legend Marla Bosworth, founder and creator of Back Porch Soap Co. based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, who remains a mentor. Chelsea also had the honor of meeting and studying with Robert Tisserand, world renown guru of essential oils. Ms DiPilla’s studies continue, and have grown to include health, diet and nutrition. Smart, skilled and resourceful, she is able to integrate the professional tool sets and interpersonal skills she has honed over the years.
i.m.Walrus Soaps has given Chelsea the opportunity to satisfy her artistic nature, desire to be of healing service and drive to be on the cutting edge of the industry. More important, Chelsea DiPilla is having the time of her life, laughing, playing, tapping that fertile imagination and left-handed sense of humor. That playfulness, creativity and commitment is something she brings to the table in every aspect of her life. It is the philosophy she lives, and how she conducts her business.
